Prince William has called for an end to the trade in ivory to save the world’s elephant population from extinction.
Speaking at the end of his visit to China, the Prince -who’s second in line to the British throne- urged people to stop buying ivory products.
He told his audience at an elephant sanctuary that no tradition or fashion was worth the destruction of an entire species.
China -where ivory products are traditionally prized items- is the world’s largest importer of illegal tusks. The trade in ivory is mostly illegal, although the sale of some items from legal stockpiles is allowed.
